DA organizes and hosts Youth & 50+
events in conjunction with two of our DA Ranked Youth
Tournaments each year – Calgary (Spring) and Edmonton
(Fall).
DA encourages development
opportunities for our youth competitors and values the
mentorship abilities and experience of our 50+ members.
Seniors must be
at least 50 years of age at the time of the competition. Youth
age requirements are in accordance with the DA Youth Age Eligibility
Requirements.
The two separate
youth/senior competitions are typically held on the Saturday
morning of the ranked tournament, in the Junior Youth &
Senior 50+ category and the Senior Youth & Senior 50+
category. Although these are ‘bring your own partner’
events, DA is always looking for 50+ Seniors to partner with
many of our youth competitors. If you are a 50+ dart player
without a youth partner and are interested in participating in
an upcoming event, please contact our DA
Youth Director
(youth@dartsalberta.com).
DA is proud to partner with the Alberta 55+
Games to officiate their Alberta 55+ Games Provincial Darts
Championship.
The Sport of Darts is associated with the 55+ Summer Games.
Zone qualifiers are held bi-annually throughout Alberta
between April and May, every odd year. The 55+ Senior Summer
Games are hosted bi-annually, every odd year, in an Alberta
location selected through a bidding process. Competitors
qualify to represent Alberta at the Canada
Senior Games,
hosted bi-annually, in the Fall of every even year.
The
2009
Alberta 55+ Summer Games will be hosted in
Airdrie from July 23 to 26, 2009. The 55+ Provincial Darts
Championship will be held at the Airdrie Royal Canadian
Legion. The exact date will be announced as soon as it has
been determined.
The
2010 Canada Senior Games will be hosted in Brockville,
Ontario.
The
2011 Alberta 55+ Summer Games will be hosted in Fairview.
The
55+
Games Rules for darts are in effect throughout all
levels of competition. Although there have been different
elite player disqualifications in the past, restrictions no
longer exist. Any former member of Team Alberta is eligibility
to participate provided they meet the Alberta 55 Plus (ASCSRA)
membership requirements.
"Alberta 55 Plus games encourage
physical and cultural creativity contributing to a sense of
independence and well-being in our elder citizens. All
participants must be at least 55 years of age by December 31,
2009 and must be members of Alberta 55 Plus (ASCSRA)."
The Alberta 55 Plus Games is directed by
the highest standards of good sportsmanship and fair play.
Therefore, participation demands high standards of personal
conduct on and off the field of play.
ALL PARTICIPANTS SHALL:
1. Represent their zones as goodwill ambassadors, with
dignity, personal integrity, and within the spirit of good
sportsmanship at all times both in and out of
competition.
2. Attend both the Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies,
wearing the provided Zone identification shirts. Your
Zone shirts should be worn during the medal presentations and
throughout the Games as much as possible.

representing your Zone;
