2014 Team Alberta Results from Elks Nationals

As the team converged on Prince Albert, Saskatchewan to participation in the Elks and Royal Purple National Championship from May 28 to 31, 2014, expectations were high. The team, consisting of members from all over Alberta, were hopeful to carry home some silverware while representing Alberta over the upcoming events.

Day 1 saw Team Alberta take the Gold Medal (1st place) in the mixed quads consisting of Sam Dufty, Sandra Milne, Jeff Essex and Doreen MacIntosh, defeating Team BC in a great exciting match. Later that day, Sam Dufty and Sandra Milne earned a Bronze Medal (Joint 3rd) in the Mixed Doubles event.

On Day 2, Team Alberta saw some tough competition from all in both the Men’s Doubles and Women’s Singles earning Joint 5th positions in both events. The difference being some “double troubles” early on in the matches.

Day 3 saw Sandra Milne and Doreen MacIntosh capture the Silver Medal (2nd) in an exciting final against BC in the Women’s Doubles. In the men’s singles, Team Alberta came away with some Joint 5th placements.

One the final day, Alvin Wilhelm, Roy Andreason, William Kozie, and Jim Fredrickson competed in the Men’s Quads and came away with a Bronze Medal for their joint 3rd position.

As always, the competition was of high quality as was the effort from all of Team Alberta. In addition to thanks going out to the host Elk Lodge of Prince Albert #58 for the great hospitality, great food and friendships that are sure to last, the Elks and Royal Purple Team Alberta members would also like to thank Darts Alberta for their continued support of its members participating this year.
