Day 3 of National Coaches Week

DARTS ALBERTA SALUTES ALL OF THE JASPER PLACE YOUTH CLUB COACHES!

A big "THANKS COACH" goes out to Basil McKay, Sandra Milne and Trevor Turner—coaches of the Jasper Place Youth Dart Club in Edmonton!!

Although we haven’t included the names of former coaches for fear of missing someone, Darts Alberta wishes to say THANKS to each and every former youth coach in the Edmonton and Morinville areas for all of your hard work and dedication to the youth program over the past 30 years!

BASIL MCKAY

Basil McKay is the Head Coach of the Jasper Place Youth Dart Club. Basil began coaching youth darts back in 90’s when his son was an active competitor in the youth program. Although the Jasper Place Youth Dart Club became inactive for a few years, Basil returned to coach youth darts when the club was resurrected in 2014 and now coaches his grandchildren in the youth program. Basil was the Assistant Coach of the Youth Team Alberta when the Youth Nationals were hosted in Edmonton in 2002.

Sandra Milne, an Assistant Coach of the Jasper Place Youth Dart Club, was one of several adult competitors that worked hard to get the club going again in 2014. Although this past year might have been her first experience at the Adult Nationals, Sandra is not unfamiliar with the pressure at the National level, as a three-time Team Alberta member at the Elks and Royal Purple National Championships. Sandra will be pursuing her accreditation as a Community Sport Dart Coach this fall.

SANDRA MILNE
TREVOR TURNER

Trevor Turner is the other Assistant Coach of the Jasper Place Youth Dart Club. Originally from MacKenzie, BC, Trevor continued actively in the sport when he moved to Edmonton in 2008. Although there were no youth dart clubs in MacKenzie, he is no stranger to darts or coaching youth. Since the age of 21, Trevor was actively involved as an officer in the Air Cadets Squadron. Trevor hit his first-ever 170 finish in the Edmonton City Dart League and is a former League Singles Championship. Trevor now shares his love of the game and his wealth of knowledge and competitive spirit with his youth dart athletes.
